Samenvatting

Life surfer: a woman. Reflections of hope, courage, love, disillusion and faith, are all entwined together. Waves of life. Up, down, slow, fast. Sometimes even as rough as a storm. But, even through the storms, her faith kept and urged her to hang in there. To keep going. Going through life’s frustrations but also lots of joy. A woman, a mother, a sister, a lover. She expresses the depths of her thoughts, her heart, her soul. She is convinced that it takes courage to be a woman, to weather the storms… and surf!

Over de auteur

Jordanna Alexis is a pseudonym adopted by Natachia Filemon (1965). Her poetic nature has its origin in Moengo, an idyllic town, on the East Coast of Suriname. At a young age she became a teenage mother, a prisoner’s wife, trying to find her destiny. In pursuit of happiness, poems were born. Determined to win, guided by faith, she started a career in Social Work but pursued teaching in Grenada, the UK and recently obtained her MEd in the Netherlands.

Inkijk

I asked God to kill you

I asked God to kill you

I am so ashamed

But then I could die too

Without any blame

It was just unbearable

To carry you through

I couldn’t have known

All the wonders you’d do

You smile like the sunshine

You scream like a train

Look at me like heaven, I cannot contain

So full of life and

So full of joy

You give me hope daily, my little boy
