Inkijk

On a cool, refreshing, midsummer’s day, the first autumn leaves had just begun fluttering down.

The seasons had always been so perfectly punctual in my recollection. The winter, for instance, always came, just as the trees bore their nakedness; it providing a warm icy blanket of contradiction and insulation. Not a moment too soon, and never an instant too late.
These times seem to have changed somewhat. This past winter, I witnessed trees, their leaves still young and green. The summer’s sun, shining its final quarter-yearly rays, a season too late, at the end of autumn.
I can’t help but wonder about the causes of, and form an opinion about these unordinary events. It is in our human nature to try to understand things is it not? Some might even plead it is our duty as well-established life-forms who dare contemplate the philosophy behind our own evolution.
I have tried to see the beauty in each event that describes the extraordinary. An example in the seasonal disarray described above, could be that the trees were evolving alongside us. Their wills, and their grip on their young leaves would grow stronger, as we do. The absence of snow supporting their newfound ease with their temporary barrenness perhaps. Pure speculation; but a great exercise for the mind. I enjoy such allegories for the inevitable smile that it brings me, be it of melancholy nature or not.
I then pondered that maybe this era is an introduction; the beginning of the next step in human evolution.
