Summary

On the horizon invites readers on a mysterious journey as old as time. With a combination of Dutch and English poems, we are given a glimpse of Sanderson’s adolescent thoughts and dreams. Extensively debating philosophical questions and describing internal conflicts, readers will be able to feel the author’s strong desire to flee and the craving for belonging. A story on the pursuit of identity which many will recognize.

From the book

I cherish the yearning for you
My merry land
Take me to the seashores
And eternal glittering sand
Birds and mountains high
Are out of reach everyday
The tide now turns
I leave this low land and sail away
