Summary

Franz Liszt advised his first serious biographer Lina Ramann “not to get herself entangled in too many details” for he was convinced that his biography “should be far more imaginatively recreated than chronologically recorded after the dry facts.”
The author follows Liszt’s recommended approach showing us the deeper meaning slumbering behind the many ‘details’ of his life and loves.
Her biographical sketch based on hard facts is founded on a firm spiritual basis that leads into “undiscovered biographical landscapes” and it earned the appraisal of insiders...‘very well written with fascinating and exciting ideas of high quality and originality.’

About the author

Daniela Bloem-Hubatka is a concert singer and teacher of singing. She lives in The Netherlands. Her concert performances of Elisabeth’s aria from Liszt’s oratorio Die Legende der heiligen Elisabeth led to her lively interest in St. Elisabeth of Thuringia and from there her fascination for the amazing similarities between Liszt and the Saint started. The oratorio thus becomes the key to a deeper understanding of its composer.
