Samenvatting
Long ago, people called Warlocks used Magick to summon spiritual entities. They used these angels or demons to push human civilization to great heights. Unfortunately the demons corrupted the Warlocks and the deranged Warlocks plunged the world into darkness. Eventually an alliance of the last warlocks and the angels saved the world, but Magick was banned forever. Until after many centuries a group tries to relearn this forbidden art. In their foolishness they summon the demonic earl Halphas who immediately seizes this opportunity to conquer the world. Without warlocks, will the angels again be able to stop them?

"When you hear the word ‘Software Engineer’ people usually don’t think of a creative person. Still I always had a thing for the creative besides my love for hardcore technical stuff. That’s why I always felt equally comfortable writing source code as I do writing normal stories. The yearly writing frenzy called the National Novelist Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) was that last little push I needed to complete my first book."

Slowly he caressed his right hand which had been restored in the transformation.
‘I reckon that you have great sense of honour, isn’t it?’ he said while revealing a great sword at his side. ‘I propose that you and me battle like real warriors. Only using the sword until either one of us is killed.’
Nela revealed his teeth to the demon; he didn’t trust this one bit.
‘I don’t trust you, demon! How can I tell you won’t do otherwise in order to win?’
Halphas’s expression changed into a sullen look.
‘My my, my dear sir paladin. While I am a demon, as a nobleman, I do have my standards. I would never change the rules of battle in order to win. I would lose my honour.’
Nela realized that he had to accept one way or another. There might never be another opportunity to fight Halphas alone and at somewhat equal grounds.
‘I accept your offer, demon, but if you try to break the rules of this engagement I will make you regret it dearly. Don’t expect me to take long before I master my exorcism powers and then I can destroy you in an instant.’
‘I know all too well, captain. That’s why I have every reason to keep to our agreement.’
Halphas raised his sword to his head, ready to strike. Nela did the same also raising his sword at head’s height. Halphas’s blade slightly tapped against that of Nela to test his opponent’s strength.
