Samenvatting
In a world so focused on finding love, what message does it give to those who have yet to find it? Are you lesser when you are without love? This book is about yearning for the beauty that love is supposed to give you, and the discomfort of knowing you are without it. Split into 4 parts, it speaks on different aspects of life, and how love always seems to manage to slip through the cracks, whether you want it to or not.
Over de auteur
Aicha Meke (20) is a second-generation Somali immigrant studying Creative Business at the Hogeschool Utrecht. As a black woman living in a predominately white area, finding love can be a struggle. Especially when it has been made to seem so important. Aicha has been writing for as long as she can remember and has found poetry to be the best creative outlet for her.
Writing poetry has given her a place to share her thoughts. Her debut poetry book is a response to society's relationship with love. Delving into themes that are found throughout life, she finds fragments of love that somehow seem to be everywhere.

Inkijk
I have fallen into infatuation many times
infatuation that is, water that only clenches thirst for minutes
and substitutes thirst for blood-
hunger love which in many ways is not
real in the way you’re told it should be
not all saving
not the meaning of your life
not curer of all things hurting
and pain
and emptiness no
it’s merely a fad
merely a distraction
a lie told for centuries
when you put all your worth
in a feeling of lies
one day you will realize
feeling worthy is not achievable
when you’re waiting for love
to come fix you
