Samenvatting
The poetry centers around current, politically charged issues. However, most of the book reflects experiences and important relationships in life. It's about how a teenage girl observes the world around her while discovering everything life offers. This book aims to break the taboos around mental health problems and show people that it is okay not to be okay. It's about losing yourself completely and finding the strength to stand up again.
Over de auteur
Julia Weenink is a young adult from The Netherlands and was born on October 13, 2003. She has spent the last year living in Denmark as a part of her gap year, where she discovered writing. Julia has been struggling with various mental health issues, such as depression and an eating disorder since turning fifteen. However, she's determined to stand up again and work towards her goals. Living life on her own terms and finding peace is an ongoing process. It involves weathering the bad days with the knowledge that better days will come again. In her first book Alive, the words she has written might resonate with those who come across them. It's her hope that they will feel a sense of validation.
