Over de auteur

Dr Janin's teenage dream was to become a flying doctor in Africa but, along the tightrope of choices and destiny, her career took shape in coaching people and their projects. She has a PhD in industrial and medical sociology (University of Leuven) and practical training in organization development and coaching (Centre for the Art of Living, Johannesburg and Centre for Social Development, Sussex).
Her passion for awakening the power of human development underlies her coaching practice.

She grew up in Belgium (Mortsel near Antwerpen), worked in Leuven, Ghent, Bloemfontein and Pretoria and for years lived in a magical cottage in Waterlandkerkje (Zeeuws Vlaanderen).
In 1997 she returned to South Africa, to Port Elizabeth (now Gqeberha).
The book weaves together real-life stories of her two homelands.

Een aanrader !
Dr. Janin Vansteenkiste haar boek krijgt een noorse «klem» van me.
«Klem» = je drukt iemand aan je hart, omdat je ermee geest-verwantschap voelt.
Eenieder die de rode draad in het eigen leven zoekt, of anderen wil verstaan of helpen, vindt hier heel wat inspiratie. Het is geschreven vanuit inzicht en

Ik heb Janin leren kennen toen we allebei in Engeland een opleiding Social Development volgden. Achteraf hebben we vanuit Gent samen het biografiewerk in Vlaanderen in gang gezet. Nu ik haar boek lees, herken ik de integriteit van haar werk, haar aanmoedigingskracht, haar levendigheid. Ik kan haar boek warm aanbevelen, maar haar coachingsgesprekken (wat kan via Zoom!) eveneens!

I am glad to see Dr Janin’s book is now available in Europe! More people will be able to read it! I have the earlier South African edition and I actually consult it when I face changes in my life. I met Janin at a talk, when I was a fresh engineering graduate from the University of Stellenbosch and had found work in Port Elizabeth. She helped me navigate my early career years as a female engineer in a traditional all male industry. Little did we foresee that my career would take off internationally... Some years ago I emigrated with my family to Germany. But I still speak to Janin when I need clarity about complex decisions. Things become more manageable after a good online session! Her Lifetime book gives a good idea of how thorough she is as a coach.

Een bijzonder biografisch werk om je eigen leven in kaart te brengen. Je passies, talenten en doelen in heldere taal gebracht, hoopvol en emotievol. Een houvast in een onderzoek naar je levensloop. Een wetenschappelijk werk, maar het leest als een roman. Een steun en toeverlaat voor het leven. Een must read.
