"I was born in 1994 in Kerkrade. At the year of 8 I already started to write. These were mostly short stories about my rabbit Fleurtje. Last year I began to write again after I had read the books by Jane Austen. These books did not only rekindle my passion for writing but also sparked an interest of the time in which she lived. This book is the result of this renewed passion and interest."

At the sound of someone approaching her, she turned around and behind her stood a young man; he had dark brown hair and soft blue eyes, he was a bit taller than she was. ‘Good morning Miss Blackwood, I hope I didn’t startle you?’
‘No, you didn’t.' she replied hesitantly while nervously staring at him.
‘My name is Dave Green, I’m the grandson of Bessie. Your uncle told me you were here and my grandmother suggested that I would intro-duce myself.’ Jane stared at him for a while and then looked away not knowing what to say. At last Dave began to talk again: ‘I must say Miss Blackwood, this is a very beautiful garden.’ He then glanced at her waiting for a reply. But be-fore she could, they heard people approaching, and her uncle and aunt came standing by her side.
